Is loving A League of Their Own really a guilty pleasure?  This is a movie about baseball – women playing baseball – in short skirts.  Sure, it has Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell, but it also has Tom Hanks in one of his best roles.  The movie has quotable lines – some classic and iconic:

“There’s no crying in baseball.”

“Avoid the Clap, Jimmy Dugan.”

“I loved you in The Wizard of Oz.”

And who doesn’t get just a little bit choked up when Betty Spaghetti finds out her husband was killed?

Penny Marshall used over 1,000,000 feet of film to make this movie.  The actresses really played baseball.  Whether or not you like everyone who stars in the movie, it’s hard to deny how awesome it is.  And again, it’s about baseball.  What’s not to love?
