In honor of the first day of Fall, I decided to make myself a little something different to drink.  The other day I picked up some delicious fresh apple cider at a local farmer’s market.  It’s been sitting in my fridge waiting for me to drink it.  I decided to mix it with bourbon, Laird’s Apple Jack, and a couple dashes of Angostura bitters.  The result is probably not something entirely new to the world, but new to me.  And in case it hasn’t been done before, I’ve coined it the BitterSweet Harvest.

To make one at home, combine in a highball glass with ice:

  • 1 jigger Bulleit Bourbon, or another good bourbon
  • 1/2 jigger Laird’s Apple Jack
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • Fill the rest with fresh apple cider
  • Stir
  • Enjoy!
