One may find it to be counterproductive to post a Summer BBQ kit the day after July 4th.  However, if you’re like me and chose to stay inside yesterday due to oppressive heat (and afternoon baseball) then perhaps you won’t.  This Saturday, my wife and I are getting together with some old friends of mine; some of whom I haven’t seen in at least a year for a little grilling, drinking, and conversation.  This is not a group of guys that gives a shit about what so and so is wearing.  It’s summer.  It’s going to be hot.  The name of the game is comfort.  We need to stay cool.  Yesterday I saw Instagram and Tumblr posts of people’s outfits worn to 4th of July BBQ’s.  Sport jackets?  Please…it’s summer.  Loosen up a bit, people.  I look again toJ.Crew for my Saturday BBQ casual items.  Where else would I go?

Clockwise from top left…

Slub Cotton Polo | $29.99 (on sale)
It’s supposed to be 96 degrees this Saturday.  Feel free to pop the collar to keep the sun off your neck.  The lightweight fabric in a color like white will keep you cooler than say something in black pique.

9″ Stanton Short | $24.99 (on sale select colors)
Slimmer than their traditional chino shorts, but still loose enough to not look weird.

Ray-Ban® new Wayfarer® sunglasses | $119
Normally I wear the Caravans.  These are a nice change of pace.

Salt-faded baseball cap with patch | $32.50
Or any old cap…

Rail and Wharf 12-hour tote | $68.00
Because you may need to bring a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, flip-flops, etc.

Sperry Top-Sider® for J.Crew Authentic Original broken-in boat shoes | $98
Easier to slip out of than sneakers.  Look better than flip flops.

Quiksilver® for J.Crew scallop board short in original aloha print | $69.99 (on sale)
Because you don’t want to be that guy who forgot to bring his swimsuit.

Timex® vintage field army watch | $150
Because you still need to know when it’s 5:00 somewhere.

Railroad-stripe flip-flops | $24.99 (on sale)
No need to get too crazy here, folks.  These are here for you to get you from teh chair to the pool, and back.  Simple rules.
