Hello friends.  I have not posted since the beginning of the year.  There are a lot of exciting things happening for me in 2013.  I can’t discuss all of them now, but I will, I promise.

Expect a new Crabapple within the next few months.  I’m rebooting the whole site.  The old (original) blog will be put into storage somewhere – hopefully in an accessible archive.  I’m still trying to decide what the new version will look like.  Let’s just say I do not plan on posting much about new arrivals at J.Crew.

Call them what you like – pre-fall, late summer – the mid-July J.Crew new arrivals are here, and they are nothing short of outstanding.  J.Crew celebrates the launch of the new Ludlow Dress Shirts, plus a return to some classic favorites in underwear, undershirts, and the ringer t-shirt.  There are some great new sweaters, and an update of one of my favorites – the British Millerain Oilcloth Jacket, and some new versions of the MacAlister boot – now also a shoe.  I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.  I can assure you I will be testing out the Ludlow shirt, and may indulge in a cashmere cable knit sweater…maybe.

LUDLOW SPREAD-COLLAR DRESS SHIRT IN SMALL GINGHAM $88

According to the J.Crew website, the new Ludlow shirts are designed with the proportions of the Ludlow suit in mind.  The collar is slimmer to match the slim lapels, higher arm holes, shoulder darts, and split yoke.  They are also made of 120’s two-ply cotton for extra sturdiness and drape.  I was not a fan of their neck & sleeve dress shirts.  At this price, these new shirts are a reasonable deal, and certainly worth a try.  In addition to the one shown (gingham) they also have solid white and blue, a subtle blue stripe, a larger gingham, and a pink & blue tattersall.  There’s also a point collar version.  More after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
